Shocking Things Your Lawyer Doesn’t Want You to Know

Being involved in a lawsuit or just by simply having to hire a lawyer to be able to help you, is extremely stressful. What more if you actually find out that there are in fact a couple of things your lawyer is not telling you about. There are just so many reasons why people ask for legal assistance, for those who are able to hire a private lawyer, it can be rather difficult to actually know what are the things that you are supposed to know.

It is a fact that you must always do whatever it is your lawyer wants you to do that is involved with your case, but how would you know if your lawyer may be hiding something? In this article, we will be tackling about some of the most common things your lawyer doesn’t want you to know, and some of them might definitely shock you. Bear in mind that this doesn’t happen all the time, or that all lawyers actually hide these things from their clients, these are just the most common ones.

#1 A lawyer’s help is not always needed

There will be times that you wouldn’t exactly need to hire a private lawyer, sometimes all you need is a legal advice. For instance, you received a formal/legal letter and you couldn’t understand what it actually says, all you need to do is to go to a public attorney and ask them if they could explain what the letter says. However, not everyone could ask for a public attorney’s help, especially if you are capable of hiring a private one.

#2 Lawyers wouldn’t tell you how many cases they have lost

A surgeon wouldn’t tell a new patient that most of his or her patients died under his or her care. An engineer wouldn’t tell a new client that most of his or her buildings collapsed. Same goes to lawyers, they might tell you how many times they have won, and it is your job to actually have the nerve to ask how many times they have lost, since you are paying him or her to defend you, and you wouldn’t want to lose your case just because you hired a bad lawyer.

#3 It is not ideal to sue

Lawyers also don’t tell their clients that there are times that it is not really ideal to sue. Lawsuits are extremely expensive, it is also time-consuming and at the same time exhausting, not just for the lawyers, but also for the clients. If there are matters that can be settled with by simply having proper communication, then a lawsuit is not needed. You could simply ask for legal advice, that can even be free if you go to a public attorney. However, lawyers wouldn’t tell you about this since this is a way for them to earn money.

#4 Everything can be negotiable

If you’re going to hire a private lawyer, he or she will most likely be a part of a law firm, and a law firm is basically a business. There will be fees that need to get paid, however, one of the most common things lawyers don’t tell their clients is that some of these fees are actually negotiable. It is actually more flexible than you thought, but this would depend on the firm or the attorney, it’s all about business after all. Some fees that can be negotiable are their hourly rate, costs of faxes, phone calls and more.

A lawyer’s job is too far from being easy, that is why there will be times that you lawyer wouldn’t be able to share every single thing with you, especially if it doesn’t involve your case. It is very important for you to understand that you must always think thoroughly when it comes to filing a lawsuit because it takes so much time and effort, and of course so much money, so be wise and take time to make decisions.
